Hey Matt, Just wanted to say thanks again for the fantastic day fishing on the Guana River. Your knowledge and enthusiasm really make a difference. After years of fishing in the area, I am now re-thinking my whole approach- kayak fishing is where it's at. The thrill of pulling in that 28" redfish from a kayak was amazing. Best, Rob |

| I had the most amazing day fishing with both Matt, guide, and Chris, the owner of Ripple Effect. We started out at sunrise and the weather was just perfect. we fished the waters/inlet leading up to Anastasia beach, it was just memorizing watching the sun creep up and all the wildlife that constantly surrounded us. it was absolutely perfect. on just my second cast i was able to land a fish. i had never been fishing in a kayak before and it was one of the most enjoyable experiences i have had. if you have not been kayak fishing, i highly recommend it, especially if you are a fisherman (you may never fish from the land or a power boat again) and if you are not just the kayaking alone with all the wildlife is definitely worth it. both matt and chris were super knowledgeable about fishing, the wildlife, the surrounding area and the environment. pulling in that slot redfish was really exciting. what a memorable day. again, i would add this experience to your list of must to-do's. | |

This was one of the greatest trips ever!! (I say ONE of them only because the other tours with Ripple Effect have also been terrific!) I had never been fishing before so this was a totally new experience for me. I was eager to try this kind of fishing since it is strictly catch-and-release with little possibility of damaging a fish irreparably. I absolutely loved the Hobie kayaks with the foot pedals. The seat was wonderfully comfortable and there was ample room to store essentials for the day. Using legs for movement leaves the arms free to deal with the fishing rod-- something I really appreciated as a newbie fisher-person! The size of the boat and ease of maneuvering made it a great way to do some fishing while staying dry even in heavier wind and chop on the way home. The best part was how accommodating Chris and Matt were. They taught me how to cast and, other than losing some bait and hooking a few trees, I really was amazed how quickly I was able to cast in the right spots! Matt was always there to help with the casting and baiting and he had a great, encouraging attitude all the time-- even though I'm sure he bemoaned the loss of bait and the need to climb through mud to untangle lines! He did it all with a smile on his face! Though I didn't actually bring up a big fish, I feel as if I got the hang of the casting and would now love to try it again. We were in beautiful scenery with almost no other boats around since we were in shallow water which would not allow our noisier fisher-friends access. We even saw some nice wildlife including a rare siting of a clapper rail as it passed from one area of tall grasses to another. (Did you hear that, Danny??) All in all, an awesome trip-- and great pictures to send to friends and family! Way to go, guys!! You've won over another eco-friendly fisher-person! |
