Faver-Dykes State Park Guided Kayaking Tour near Jacksonville and St Augustine, FL

Pellicer Creek Kayak Tour

Faver-Dykes State Park is a beautiful park that has gone undiscovered by much of the general public.  As a state canoe trail, Pellicer Creek is surely one of the most beautiful creek systems in northeast Florida. Faver-Dykes State Park is made up of a diverse landscape with a hardwood forest bordering the tidal marshes along Pellicer Creek.  Pellicer Creek is an"OFW"(Outstanding Florida Waterway) nestled in 25,000 contiguous acres of pristine natural Florida and is fed by the Matanzas Inlet, one of the only natural inlets on the east coast of Florida.  Possible interactions may include dolphin, river otters, manatee, and an abundance of beautiful birds.

Within the Park are pinelands, hammocks, swamps, bayheads, and marshes. This variety of plant communities accounts for the abundant wildlife here. The peaceful and tranquil setting of this biologically rich area offers the unhurried visitor an opportunity to relax, reflect, explore, discover and wonder.  Enjoy beautiful panoramas of the Princess Place Preserve.  On this kayak tour, you will experience the inhabitants of the creek, the vegetation and the array of different water fowl that flock here. We will also enjoy unobstructed views of one of the largest Bald Eagle nests in North Florida.  This is real Florida from the unique perspective of a kayak. The tour fee includes entry to the park, so please feel free to explore the park even further after the tour is over. Space is limited, so sign up early to ensure your spot.  $50 per person (includes all kayaking equipment, photos from the tour, guide service, and park entry fee)

Directions

The park is about 16 miles south of St. Augustine off of US1. Take Interstate 95 to exit #298 which is US 1. Go north on US 1 for 300 yards and turn right on Faver-Dykes Road. Go 1.5 miles on Faver-Dykes Road to Faver-Dykes State Park. There is a small sign for Faver-Dykes State Park.  Watch for the sign and turn in between the two fruit stand gas stations. The price for the tour includes your admission into the park so just drive in and follow the signs to the boat ramp. Please be at the boat ramp 15 minutes prior to the scheduled time. The address for the park is 1000 Faver Dykes Road, St. Augustine, Florida 32086

Hi Chris and Matt,

Just wanted to reiterate that this was my best kayaking experience ever. Have been out 8 or so times, most on a guided tour. You are the first to provide the technique instructions to make the experience a pain free, top performance experience. You do a wonderful job of education and info sharing. Thanks for a wonderful day and thanks to you and Matt for your enthusiasm and knowledge Hope to see you soon.

Susan

Hi Chris,

We were the English twins spouses that went with you kayaking last feb/march. We still think that was one of the best things we did (we saw an eagle get a fish just in front of us). We will be spending this winter in cold, snowy, Canada. Hope you have a good season.

Awesome trip Chris. What a treat to see this natural beauty pretty much the same way it was before the 'white man' arrived from Europe. Equipment, instruction and fine tuning of technique along the way made it a breeze for my folks & sister who had minimal to zero kayak experience. I've kayaked for years and realized that I needed to make technique adjustments as well. My parents - both in their 70's - found it safe and felt comfortable.

We enjoyed learning about the historical and biological characteristics of this special region too. Three bald eagles in one day - WOW!

I look forward to returning for the fishing excursion.

Have a great holiday.

Chris and Matt,
Shane and I really enjoyed our VERY FIRST BUT NOT LAST kayak outing December 30! And, we didn't even get wet just like you had promised. I would recommend this tour to any one whether it is the first experience or not. In fact, I have already shared my experience with my coworkers. I hope to eventually participate in all the other tours that you offer.

A satisfied customer,
Deborah

Hi Chris,
Thanks for the pix which are wonderful and terrific memories of a delightful trip. Danny and Matt were excellent. The weather was fantastic and even my rowing partner was not too bad smilies/wink.gif (That was my brother who is a great friend and who I rarely see because we live far apart.)
Thanks and we hope to join you again on another trip East.
Steve
P.S. I know Matt shot the pictures so please thank him for those.

HI Chris,
Thanks to you and Matt for another wonderful afternoon at Princess Place Preserve kayaking. Our group is always delighted with the trip and you did another fantastic job as the Master Naturalist interpreter. Thanks to Matt who helped one team of kayakers who could not quite get it together. He was able to get them correct their strokes while in the water and what a difference it made to them. I will put another group together soon.
