Kayak the Ripple Effect Way

Ripple Effect Ecotours Satellite View - GTM NERR

For the kayaking enthusiast, Northeast Florida is a dream come true. There are hundreds of miles of waterways, both freshwater and saltwater, to explore. If you love kayaking, are looking to get into paddling or maybe you are simply a nature enthusiast, Ripple Effect is your premier guide for kayaking tours, instruction, kayak rentals and kayak equipment.

Most of the paddling around St. Augustine and Northeast Florida is relaxed and easy, but there is some whitewater on the Suwannee River at Big Shoals! The St. Johns River, its springs and tributaries have captured the imaginations of explorers, naturalists and writers for centuries, including William Bartram, John Muir and Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings. Salt marshes border barrier islands all along the coast, and wildlife is abundant. The entire region is rich in geological, biological and archeological history. This makes the area perfect for kayaking, boat tours, and even kayak fishing charters!

One of the most beautiful and biologically diverse areas is found in St. Johns and Flagler Counties. More than 40,000 acres of salt marsh, freshwater, upland and coastal habitat have been preserved in what’s called the Guana Tolomato Matanzas National Estuarine Research Reserve. Within the reserve are several state and county parks, pristine and undeveloped marshes and creeks and the Matanzas Inlet, one of the only natural inlets on Florida’s east coast. In this region, the temperate climate of the southeastern U.S. gives way to the subtropical, supporting an amazing mix of plant and animal species. With our deep knowledge and experience in the area, Ripple Effect is your perfect guide for kayaking and exploring all the wonders of nature that this part of Northeast Florida has to offer.

Kayaking with dolphins in Marineland, St Augustine, FL

Kayaking Ecotours from Marineland

In our continuing effort to provide the best eco-educational kayaking experiences in Northeast Florida,  Ripple Effect Ecotours has now partnered with Marineland Dolphin Adventure and the University of Florida's Whitney Lab for Marine Bioscience.  This new partnership combines an incredible foundation in research, education, conservation, and natural interpretation with unique access to the southern boundary of the Guana Tolomato Matanzas National Estuarine Research Reserve (GTM-NERR).  This is the perfect central location to explore the Jordon and Mellon Island Sites that are part of Faver-Dykes State Park, The Princess Place Preseve, and the Pellicer Creek Aquatic Preserve.  This biologically rich area has been described as "the cornerstone behind the nomination of the Matanzas River as the 25th National Estuarine Research Reserve of the United States".  This is where the Matanzas Inlet, one of the only natural inlets on the east coast of Florida, collides with one of the most pristine, undeveloped streams in Florida, The Pellicer Creek.  We are excited to offer comprehensive ecological and cultural kayak tours in this beautiful coastal system.    Don't miss this opportunity to visit the dolphins of Marineland and also the chance to witness their natural habitat in the Matanzas River Estuary.  All from the low-impact, unique perspective of a kayak!  Reservations Required!
